The Mercedes-Benz STYLO
AsiaFashionFestival 2017 entered its second day at KL Gateway Mall with a stylish
5-designer showcase presented by Johnson & Johnson’s Neutrogena®. Themed, “Happy
Skin”, the event showcased youthful, bright and colourful designs from select
up-and-coming Malaysian fashion creators like Shadow C., weihaoyong, TUHFAH and
a specially designed Neutrogena® collection by emerging young designers, Hazzer
Wan Lee and Kittie Yiyi.
Neutrogena® held a Happy 24/7 Instagram
Contest in collaboration with STYLO
International and Watsons in April whereby participants had to submit creative
photos of themselves displaying their Neutrogena® Deep Clean purchase for a
shot at the Grand Prize of a Kittie Yiyi Designer Outfit + Entrance Pass to Mercedes-Benz STYLO AsiaFashionFestival featuring Kittie Yiyi & Hazzer
Wan Lee + A Makeover.
Fast forward to May, fifty-three
winners of the Happy 24/7 contest were given VIP treatment as they arrived for
the second night of MBSTYLOAFF. Three Grand Prize winners were also seen
enjoying a free makeover by beauty consultants from Neutrogena® prior to the
event.

talented young Malaysian fashion designers. STYLO

anniversary of MBSTYLOAFF.”
The
fashion show began with six natural and simple looks borne from an extremely
rational manufacturing process by Shadow C. whilst Kota Kinabalu native, weihaoyong
presented six tailored looks. TUHFAH showcased the power of colours in six beautiful
modest wear designs.
The
evening culminated with the presentation of Neutrogena®’s Happy Skin 24/7
Collection which featured 15 day wear looks by Hazzer Wan Lee and Kittie Yiyi.
Hazzer’s
fashion collection is inspired by the water splash -- a signature of
Neutrogena® Deep Clean® range of cleansing products, and the first step to
Happy Skin 24/7! Fluid lines and cascading layers come together to bring out
the beauty and energy of water in hues of blue, green, orange and pink. The
clever incorporation and layering techniques of different materials such as
denim, organdy, PU leather, cotton silk and dyed fabrics result in a unique 3D
effect that mimics the movements of water.
Kittie’s
collection is inspired by the quintessential beach girl on a holiday. Coming
from a faraway beach land, she wanders into the city in her flowy, comfy
loose-fitting outfits. Her happiness is infectious – and it shows in the way
she dresses. Featuring flared silhouettes, ruffles, cheerful stripes and
heart-shaped prints, the collection flaunts the beach girl’s confidence in her
own skin with transparent details and cut-outs.
The
night drew to a close with a photo opportunity with models, designers and
festival sponsors on stage.

About STYLO
Launched with
Mercedes Benz in 2007 by SPB Tuanku Nur Zahirah, the Raja Permaisuri Agung and
Dato' Jimmy Choo, STYLO was conceived as a fashion and lifestyle
fringe event in celebration of the 10th year of F1 racing in Sepang. The first STYLO event, held in March 2008 was called the STYLO KL Fashion Festival. 5 months later, it
entered Singapore with Mercedes Benz as its principal sponsor for the launch of
the first ever F1 night race in Singapore and was called STYLO
Singapore Fashion Festival.
Two years later
it was renamed as the Mercedes-Benz STYLO Fashion Grand Prix. Subsequently,
STYLO spread its wings beyond Malaysia’s borders
with events organised in fashion partnership with Mercedes Benz in Delhi,
Mumbai, Prague and Mexico City as it celebrated the combination of speed and
fashion.
Next came Jakarta
and London in 2011.
In conjunction
with Mercedes-Benz’ 150th anniversary celebrations in 2012, Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week (AFW) was born and held
its first AFW concurrently as the STYLO Fashion Grand Prix.
Malaysian
External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and STYLO became partners in 2013 with the Malaysia
Fashion Week. It is the country's first B2B fashion initiative; in 2015
Malaysia Fashion Week brought RM126 millions of soft exports to the country.
The MFW runs concurrently with the AFW, bringing participants from over 17
countries to Malaysia every November.
This year, the
Malaysia Formula One will no longer be held in March but in October. STYLO will be showcased as a fashion show at the
evening of the Mercedes Benz Petronas F1 party.
However, in
maintaining the tradition of having a fashion event every March since 2008, the
Mercedes Benz STYLO AsiaFashionFestival has been created in March featuring Autumn
Winter and classic collections from top Asian designers for a B2C showcase.
These include accessories designers such as hair, make up, bags and shoes.
