SALVATORE FERRAGAMO AUTUMN/WINTER 2011

KEE@FSWMAG.COM

All ready for autumn winter?

No?

Me also, more so when it is permanent summer 365 days a year! I just returned from Holland where I holidayed from 6 till 20 July and I thought I entered a time warp as quite often it was rainy, windy, wet and cold!

Oh well, but we can always wear Salvatore Ferragamo when we go skiing in St Moritz as even Italy, homeland of Ferragamo, is not synonymous with snow like Switzerland. But at least they have winter even if mild.

So the garments are warmish for coldish weather and it is really nice to stroll the streets in Europe wrapped stylishly in Ferragamo provided it is not storming!

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO WOMEN’S AUTUMN/WINTER 2011

I always prefer scenes taken at the backstage just before the show begins. The organised chaos has by now subsided into a muted calm-before-a-storm scenario as models wait impatiently for their cue to storm the stage. Here are my favourite backstage photos!

I love this hodge-podge, patchwork look! Reminds me of my quilted blanket in London!

064.JPG

I like this look except it is so irritating having to prop up the overcoat as it is bound to slip so often you might as well put your arms through the sleeves

064.JPG

Pure as the driven snow

064.JPG

So nice to stand and get dressed up by masters of style

064.JPG

I love bags that match the dress but not exactly!

Class and Ferragamo tend to be found in the same sentence

Here we go!

A subtle game of seduction. An elusive woman interpreting an alchemy of contrasts, nonchalantly mixing masculinity and femininity, white and black, lax and rigorous, micro and macro.

Her inclination towards luxury rarefies into an attitude of absolute dynamism: métissage makes her unpredictable and contemporary at one and the same time.

The colour palette is mostly grey, black, white and silver which is not exactly my taste but then my loud, garish and deafening colour combos are not to everyone's taste either. Ferragamo is all about class, subtlety and absolute refinement! So if you are planning to visit Europe this winter, below are my favourite designs! Though chic and classy, they are not dowdy and frumpy as they are not made for aging matrons but the young-at-heart Datins! Many garments are transparent and I especially love the black see-thru blouse with strategically placed black pockets that adequately cover the nipples! And the plunging necklines show your cleavage so potently!Below are my picks of Ferragamo's sexiest ensembles guaranteed to heat up wintry climes and any aircon ballrooms!

This is my favourite look and I think even I can wear it!

Simple, sleek and super sexy in all leather!

Even a business suit looks deadly sexy when teamed with a transparent blouse. Wear this and win any boardroom battle

041.jpg

Only God and the wearer knows what lurks underneath...maybe nothing with a bit of luck

041.jpg

A neckline that plunges to the waist is the key look this winter

041.jpg

Though sedate, this simple, perfectly cut business suit is ultra sexy!

041.jpg

I would wear this without the bow...

041.jpg

Haughty halter-neck does the job

041.jpg

A cleavage gets you everywhere

041.jpg

Leopard print and checks go rather well

041.jpg

Herringbone always makes me dizzy, more so with plunging neckline

041.jpg

Discreet class

041.jpg

Fur and leopard spell deluxe with a capital D

041.jpg

I kinda like the retro look of the pants that cover your navel

041.jpg

Rich, glam and luxurious

041.jpg

Uppercrust upperclass

Italian ink

the ultimate smoking jacket and fur!

A spirit free from conventions, her unique taste chooses the sartorial aplomb of a deep-necked pinstripe robe manteau and the assured femininity of a pump. She wears overcoats and trenches with generous volumes and wide shoulders, masculine cut jackets with pointed lapels and traditional patterns such as Prince of Wales, pinstripes and houndstooth.

I love the heel!

She likes to juxtapose animal prints (a stylistic hallmark of the Maison) infused with impeccable lingerie detailing and transparency resulting in silk shirts and dresses treated by torchon draping.

She combines shirts with structured collars and geometric pattern scarves with body hugging cut skirts gathered around the waist, or trousers with pleats that highlights the seductiveness of her captivating, sleek pumps. Fox, mink and lynx fur are layered over high-necked chemisiers, fluid velvet dresses and chiffon/fabric dungarees.

The night is illuminated by magnetic shimmering and transparency: dresses with plunging necks that indulge in sophisticated combinations of Swarovski mesh and lace detailing or in sumptuous bustier dresses and embroidery patchwork.

A story of atmospheres is painted in primary colours. The palette is dominated by black and white, endlessly vying and intermingling, fading to grey and then lit up by flashes of red.

Footwear is a reflection on the ultra-ideal: Salvatore Ferragamo’s iconic pump, re-invented in modern materials alongside the timeless luxury of crocodile and python. This intense femininity also pervades through spectacular jewels: geometric necklaces, black and white rhinestone chokers and Swarovski-detailed “panther” bracelets. Elegance is continually re-asserted by elements of extreme distinction: handbags superbly crafted in soft calf leather are adorned with the exquisite texture of pure crocodile, breathing new life into structured pocketbooks and pochettes .

THE END
