The occasion was also to reveal the UEFA Eurpo 2012 trophy which was flown in at great expense and guarded by 4 security guards toting machine guns ready to shoot to kill should anyone make an attempt to steal the sterling silver trophy!
Also present was Carlsberg's 2012 global ambassador Peter Schmeichel, legendary Denmark's goalkeeper and winner of Carlsberg Man of the Match 1992 that saw Denmark thrashing mighty Germany to win the trophy.
But the great good news was the announcement Carlsberg would be flying 100 Malaysian fans to watch the semi-finals at Donetsk, Ukraine! It will be an all expense trip that includes return airfare, hotel, meals and tickets to the match of course since the tickets are all sold out ages ago and love and money cannot buy them now!

As fans worldwide count down to one of the biggest football events, UEFA EURO 2012™, Carlsberg kicked off an exciting and rewarding football campaign for Malaysian football buffs. First up in the Carlsberg UEFA EURO 2012™ campaign was a 2-day UEFA EURO 2012™ Trophy viewing at the Orange Concourse, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre, Selangor on April 6 and 7.
Football fanatics-cum-Carlsberg lovers grabbed the once in a lifetime experience as this was the first time ever the coveted sterling silver UEFA EURO 2012™ Trophy entered Malaysia, as it was flown in from Europe. Malaysia was the trophy’s second stop as the first was to India in February 2012.
Carlsberg is the official sponsor of UEFA EURO 2012™ and celebrates its seventh consecutive time of sponsoring the European football championships since 1988. The tournament will be held for the first time entirely in Eastern Europe, in the dynamic growth markets for Carlsberg in Poland and Ukraine.

About the UEFA EURO 2012™ Trophy
The UEFA EURO 2012™ Trophy is an updated version that was presented to Spain for winning the UEFA EURO 2008. The second version of the trophy is based on the original designed by Arthus-Bertrand in 1960 and named after Henri Delaunay, the former president of the French Football Federation and UEFA's first general secretary, from the body's founding on 15 June 1954 to 9 November 1955.
It is 18cm higher and 2kg heavier than the original, made of sterling silver, and has retained its historical name. The trophy was reincarnated to reflect the scale and size of Europe's most prestigious international tournament.
