*****FAMOUS AT LAST IN PERTH*****************************************
THE STARS IN HIGH HEAVEN, THE WIND AND WATER OF FENG SHUI AND THE PLANETS MUST HAVE ALIGNED THEMSELVES IN MY FAVOUR AS TODAY IS A RED-LETTER DAY!
Famous at last in Perth
I must say I look cute...
I MADE IT TO PAGE 2 OF THE WEST AUSTRALIAN, WESTERN AUSTRALIA'S BEST NEWSPAPER AND HAD A KODAK MOMENT WITH MEL B OF SPICE GIRLS!
Kee Hua Chee with the magnificently endowed and ultra sexy Mel B
Note Mel B put her fingers on my shoulder! What an honour!
This photo was taken by top pixman Matthew Tompsett as I posed for my Leica V-Lux 20 which can be seen at extreme left as my friend snapped away while we were all shot by Mattew Tompsett!
Kee Hua Chee and Mel B looking gloriously glam!
Mel B and her handsome hunk of a husband Stephen Belafonte and his eyes are really blue as he told me he was not wearing blue contact lenses!
Superstar Mel B checking her magnificent cleavage to see all is in order
Even millionaire stars could not resist checking what they got in their goodie bags!
OF COURSE I MUST ALSO GIVE PRAISE TO THE PERSONAL INTERVENTION OF JESUS CHRIST AND BUDDHA WHO INSTRUCTED GARY ADSHEAD OF 'INSIDE COVER' TO FEATURE MY PHOTO TAKEN YESTERDAY AT THE MYER LUNCHEON.
TO MAKE IT INTO THE SECOND PAGE OF THE WEST AUSTRALIAN DAILY WITHIN 24 HOURS IS A MAJOR FEAT AND I MUST ALSO PAY HOMAGE TO VIRGIN MARY, MOTHER OF GOD AN DMY PERSONAL SAVIOUR KUANYIN THE GODDESS OF MERCY WHO ALSO GUIDED GARY ADSHEAD'S EYE TO CHOOSE A PHOTO OF ME IN RED DRAGON SHIRT AND RED SNAKE PANTS AND MY FAMOUS MESSENGER BAG FEATURING ME AS THE LION KING.
I WAS REFERRED TO AS 'ASIA'S ANSWER TO BRUNO' WHICH WAS A BIG COMPLIMENT AS I LIKE THE CHARACTER AND SOME QUOTES WERE EXTRACTED FROM MY BLOG KEEHUACHEE.BLOGSPOT.COM ABOUT SINGAPORE'S JOHNNIE WALKER'S BLACK LABEL PARTY WHICH DESCRIBES MY USUAL METHOD OF GETTING INVITES.
I DID NOT EVEN REALISE MY PHOTO WAS SPLASHED ALL OVER THE PAPER AND SOCIAL NETWORK AND NEWS MEDIA AND ON TV UNTIL I SWANNED DOWN INTO THE LOBBY ONLY TO SEE THE NEWSPAPER BEING BRANDISHED BEFORE MY ASTONISHED EYES.
WELL THEN, I MUST SAY I LOOK GOOD IN THE PHOTO---A CROSS BETWEEN CHINESE NEW YEAR FIRECRACKER AND TEMPLE PILLAR.
INCREDIBLY OR MAYBE NOT, I WAS RECOGNISED IN PERTH! I WAS IN LEDEERVILLE, A HIP SUBURB OF PERTH AND SEVERAL SHOP OWNERS RECOGNISED ME AND COMMENTED ON MY APPEARANCE. I ACCEPTED THEIR CONGRATULATIONS GRACIOUSLY AND AM NOW WAITING FOR THE HOLLYWOOD TALENT SCOUT TO OFFER ME THE MOVIE CONTRACT.
OF COURSE THE SAME THING HAPPENS WHEN I ATTEND THE LONDON, PARIS AND MILAN FASHION WEEKS. PEOPLE STOP ME IN THE STREETS TO TAKE PHOTOS WITH ME AND THE MEDIA POLITELY TURN ME AWAY FROM THEIR ENCLOSURE, SAYING 'SORRY, THIS IS RESERVED FOR THE PRESS ONLY'! THEY COULD SCARCELY BELIEVE I AM ONE OF THEM AS THEY ASSUME I AM THE SCION OF SOME CHINK OR JAP WHO IS BUYING A FASHION HOUSE, A MOVIE STAR FROM ASIA OR AT THE VERY LEAST, A BUYER FROM SOME GLAM BOUTIQUE.
THIS IS MY 3RD DAY IN PERTH BUT OF COURSE IT IS ONLY DAY 2 OF PERTH FASHION FESTIVAL SO I SHOULD REFER TO IT AS DAY 2 RATHER THAN DAY 3 TO AVOID CONFUSION AS NO ONE CARES WHEN I ARRIVED IN PERTH.
BREAKFAST AT SAYERS CAFE IN LEEDERVILLE
Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan, founder and director of Perth Fashion Festival 13 years ago took me and some bloggers to breakfast at Sayers. It was supposed to be coffee and muffins as we were supposed to have lunch at Bistro Felix but the spread was phenomenal! It was more like lunch, and a lavish one at that!
I walked round Leederville a bit and was quite taken by the old cinema which reminded me of Odean and Lido cinemas in Kota Baru my hometown. After a heavy lunch at Bistro Felix which consisted of shared dishes, I was taken to Zara Bryson boutique and Ae'lkemi, 2 hot boutiques at Claremont, one of Perth's most upscale and happening shopping precints. I fell in love with the python skin Perfecto jacket at Ae'lkemi but they did not have my size and if they did, could not sell as it was to be shown at the Perth Fashion Festival.
Then Lance Pompey the VIP minder rushed me to Burswood Casino and Hotel where Mel B of Spice Girls was to hold a press conference. She was around 35 minutes late and made up for it when she breezed in calling loudly, "Hello, everyone! So sorry I am late!"
The arrival of Mel B!
Looking great despite having giving birth 3 weeks ago
Her hair was gorgeous! Long, lush, lovely locks that cascaded to her bosom
No one can accuse Mel B of looking her age
The chinky girl at the back was a poster and proved distracting but what could I do? It was too late to remove the irritating poster!
Brilliant smile with charm to match
Mel B with good friend Tony Sage, director of Perth Fashion Festival
Making a point
Mel B pointing at me and my clothes as she commented on my portraits splashed all over my shirt and pants. She exclaimed, "Wow, look at your clothes! They are great and omigod, are those your faces on your shirt and jeans?" I told her I would paint her face on them too!
I cannot recover from her magnificent mane and the fact she picked on me and my garments!
Looking divine---just ignore the oriental at the back
One for the road
Tony Sage, Mel B and hubby Stephen Belafonte who blinked and proved what he said---that he photographed badly
Singapore's top blogger Laila Lu, Tjin Lee, MD of Mercury and Nathalie had breakfast with me at Sayers Cafe in Leederville.
This poster at Bistro Felix really made me keel over! I never knew this was how champagne was produced!
Funky boutique in Leederville
I like the way their clothes are displayed as if they are laundry hanging out to dry
Everything on display and within reach
Cacti for tea, anyone?
Quaint old cinema like the ones in Kota Baru
The designer of Ae'lkemi in his boutique at Subiaco
Ae'lkemi also has a range of bridal gowns, off the rack or custom made
The new collection
I love this python perfecto jacket!
Ae'lkemi is super luxe!
Zara Bryson mixes zebra and purple to great effect!
Don't blink and you can make out the words 'Zara Bryson'

Mel B sat next to Paul Sage, one of Perth's richest tycoons who is in mining and has known Mel B's husband Stephen Belafonte for the last 10 years. He tells me, "I only knew Mel for the last 2 years but am really happy to know her well and we are now such good friends. She insisted I should sit next to her during the press conference although I told her the media just get pissed off as they only wanted her as even her husband refused to sit next to her and made himself comfy at the bar! But she insisted and even at the photocall, dragged me to stand next to her. Of course I was immensely flattered and also showed Mel is not the sort of girl who monopolised all the attention!"
At the press conference at Burswood, Mel B said, "Don't ask difficult questions as I have just given birth and might be hormonal." After answering sedate questions, she then sighed, "Why are you so tame?" to which a reporter yelled, "We are afraid of you!".
It was also difficult to ask questions about her thoughts on Perth's fashions as she had just flown in and would be in Perth for only 24 hours and she would only be seeing her first fashion show later this evening. So it was impossible for her to comment on something she had not yet seen or experienced.
But she did say Perth felt like second home to her although she would be based in Sydney for taping The X Factor. She will be the judge and The X Factor will air on Channel 7 but I doubt if Malaysia will broadcast this. For someone who just gave birth 3 weeks ago, her figure was remarkably good and shapely. "I wore this shimmery dress just for you although I can hardly wait to soak some sun in my bikini!'
Mel B was eyeing me all this time and she finally pointed at me and blurted, "Look at you! Wow, your outfit is amazing and omigod, is that your faces all over your shirt and pants!"
Well, this was a major disruption as Mel B was only giving a 15 minute interview and every second counted. Everyone stared and maybe glared at me as I yelled, "I will paint your face on my clothes next time!"
We carried on and Mel B had to quickly apologised, "Oh where were we?" and my 15-minute of fame was over.
She demonstrated a fab sense of humour even when asked if she phoned Posh regularly since both are mothers. Bet most reporters would not ask Victoria Beckham if she called Mel B regularly to swap tips about nappy changing! But Mel B took all in her stride, "No, I have not spoken to Posh but have emailed her often."
She dragged her husband to pose with her and Tony Sage despite his protests he photographed badly. Well, he was not lying. Belafonte blinked in both my photos!
Mel B then left the room and went to have a quick dinner at Rockpool restaurant in the lobby before returning to her suite to change into a tight, bosom-bursting and breast-busting black dress by Wheels & Dollbaby, an Aussie brand which has garnered acres of publicity since Mel B wore their dress. Said Mel B, "I have been given loads of clothes so I have tried them all and decided on this one."
The first show at 6.30pm by Yeojin Bae was held at Hackett Hall in Western Australia Museum. I liked the venue as it was so atmospheric and gothicky with soaring ceilings that span 3 storeys and definitely very High Victorian.
We thought Yeojin Bae's show would start late as Mel B might be late but she turned up 10 minutes before showtime and was so amicable and agreeable she had the audience and media eating out of her manicured fingers. Since we were almost friends, I asked if I could take my photo with her and as she was seated, I was about to squat at her knees when she stood, "No, no we look better standing." She was my height as she wore Christian Louboutin shoes. I must say her crowning glory looked like a million dollars, so glossy, gleaming and gorgeously chestnut!
The second show at 9 pm was held in the same venue (as will be all shows till Tuesday when it moves to His Majesty's Theatre) ad this time it featured 3 designers's capsule collections. The trio were Little Gracie, Lisa Marjanovich and Paper Skye. My favorite was Little Gracie as ther clothes were to die for, so pretty, feminine and sexy without screaming out loud. Very unlike me but then not everyone is like me and come to think of it, I have never met anyone who looks and dresses like me.
THE END
