The romantic atmosphere commences as soon as diners step into le “Relais de l’Entrecôte” which immediately transports its guests to Paris, with oak panelled red banquette seating, authentic timber wood walls and service stations, and colourful table cloths splayed atop dining tables identical to those in its flagship in Saint Germain des Pres - an ode to its quaint, Parisian origins.
Vintage posters depicting French liquor houses, interspersed with fixtures such as stencils, light fittings, and colour schemes further enhances the Parisian experience, ensuring that each diner is mentally transported to the romantic city of love and lights, before being seated by their French trained waitress dressed in the restaurant’s signature black and white uniform.
As soon as diners are seated, the true le “Relais de l’Entrecôte” experience begins. No menu is presented, but a waitress asks if the diners would like their steak cooked rare, medium rare, medium, or well done. A fresh green salad composed of imported walnuts from Perigord with Dijon mustard dressing is presented to start, showcasing ingredients sourced directly from France.
Whilst enjoying the salad, a first serving of lean striploin steak cooked to the diner’s preference and drizzled with le “Relais de l’Entrecôte”’s famous secret sauce is served. A generous first portion of hand-cut fries completes the famed steak-frites experience.
A second helping of the diner’s contre-filet follows, along with a fresh portion of hand-cut fries. The waitress presents this much-anticipated second serving of succulent beef on a silver platter, kept at the perfect temperature to retain the flavour of the meat.
A wonderful range of desserts are also offered for diners to choose from, to end their romantic meal on a sweet note. The signature “Relais” Tulip (HK$88), Vacherin d’été (HK$88), Raspberry Delice (HK$88), Lemon and Raspberry Tartlet (HK$68), and the elegantly simple bowl of Raspberries with Sugar (HK$68) are perfect desserts which celebrate Valentine’s Day with vibrant red colour.
Chocolate lovers may also choose to indulge in “Relais” Profiteroles (HK$88), “Relais” Chocolate Cakes (HK$68), Chocolate Liegeois (HK$68), or the iconic Vacherin du “Relais” (HK$88).
These delectable desserts will be taking a center stage in February, when le “Relais de l’Entrecôte” launches the “Café Gourmand” experience. The “Café Gourmand” (HK$88) carries the French tradition of serving a cup of small coffee with small desserts, replacing the traditional petit-fours; allowing diners to sample several desserts in one go, including favourites such as Chocolate Cakes, Apple Tart, and Vanilla Ice-Cream.
These desserts are presented in petit versions, ensuring a lower calorie and guilt-free indulgence.
To complement this authentic Parisian bistro style meal and enhance the romantic mood, le “Relais de l’Entrecôte” showcases the exclusive wines from Château de Saurs, a family owned vineyard located in Côte du Tarn, South West of France.
Owned by the Gineste de Saurs family, who have resided in the area since the 14th Century, the vineyard locates in the Gaillac wine-growing region of southern France. These distinguished wines possess a deep red ruby-garnet colour, and consists of an attractive bouquet of cherries and blackcurrants, with discreet hints of aniseed and cinnamon, which is perfect antidote to a cool Valentine’s evening.
