Philippe Leveille celebrates the exquisite flavours of summer on a new menu of Italian seasonal gastronomy
with a twist of French haute cuisine at L’altro Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong flagship of one of Europe’s
most outstanding chefs at L Place, Central is widely acclaimed among the finest
Italian restaurants in town.
Complementing
all-time signature favourites, Chef
Leveille now unveils the latest Summer Menu from his famed 2-star Miramonti
L'altro in Italy – bursting with the freshness of premium seasonal ingredients
and fruit from Europe.
Among
new appetisers are Soft Japanese Egg and Asparagus, sprinkled with
garlic bread crumbs and drizzled with capers soya milk mayonnaise
(HK$168); Mediterranean Red Tuna in Fresh Cherry Tomato Sauce with Basil
Sorbet, served with parmesan cheese cookie (HK$268); and “One Side”
Roasted Scallops, with watermelon sauce & salad, almonds and refreshing
cucumber sorbet (HK$238).
New
‘must try’ pastas include Lobster Ravioli with Crispy Lobster Jus Popcorn
and Lime (HK$368), complementing such all-time favourites as Hand-made
Spaghetti with Italian Clams in Sea Water Emulsion (HK$298), and the chef’s
famous Miramonti L’altro Risotto with Mushrooms and Sweet Cheese (HK$268).
Four
new main courses from the kitchen include a seafood symphony of line-caught Sea Bass, Mussels and Clams, served in fragrant fresh basil sauce with
new potatoes (HK$388). Continuing the Mediterranean theme is Mixed
Fish, Lobster and Crustaceans Soup with Brioche (HK$438).
Meaty
summer specialties include lightly smoked Wagyu Beef M8 in a
kaleidoscope of vegetable colours and textures (HK$688); and Roasted Baby
Lamb Striploin, served traditionally with fried potato napoleon and black
olives (HK$468).
For
devotees of L’altro’s delectable desserts, new alternatives to the restaurant’s
beloved Gelato Miramonti ice cream with warm strawberries (HK$138) also
capture the spirit of summer – including luscious Cherries, Pistachio and
Coconut Meringue (HK$158) and a decadent east-meets-west innovation of Lychee,
Champagne and Raspberries (HK$158).
Four
and five-course tasting menus introduce a flavour of the new Summer Menu
alongside all-time favourite signatures.
Priced
HK$880, the 4-course menu features the new Mixed Fish, Lobster and
Crustaceans Soup alongside ever-popular Braised Snail in Garlic Sauce
with Sorrel ; Miramonti L’altro’s famous Risotto with Mushrooms
and Sweet Cheese; and legendary Gelato Miramonti dessert.
The
5-course menu priced HK$1,180 includes the new Mediterranean Red Tuna
and Roasted Baby Lamb Striploin specialties. Signature favourites are Seafood
Salad with Scallop, Red Prawn and Scampi – and equally beloved Fresh
Spaghetti with Italian Clams in Sea Water Emulsion. Dessert is also a
summer selection – Lychee, Champagne and Raspberries.

Italian fine dining restaurant L’altro at Central’s fashionable L Place
is the sister restaurant to prestigious two-Michelin star Miramonti L'altro
in Brescia, Italy. Both restaurants showcase the innovative gourmet Italian
cuisine with a French twist of Executive Chef Philippe Leveille, who was born in
Nantes, France in 1963 but moved to Italy at the
age of 30.
In
Lombardy, Miramonti L’altro boasts a celebrity following including Jose
Carreras, Andrea Bocelli, Grace Jones, Eros Ramazotti and President Francesco
Cossiga. Along with his Michelin stars, Chef Philippe is also recognised as one
of Italy’s most influential chefs by prestigious magazine "Grande
Cucina".
"Greedy,
buttered, generous and never brainy,” is how he describes his French-Italian culinary
style.
In Hong
Kong, Chef de Cuisine is Italian chef Mauro Zacchetti, a
protege of Chef Leveille at Miramonti L’altro in Italy.
The
restaurant interior is styled in cold tones of grey and white with harmonic
Italian elements such as marble, reflective mirrors, Lalique artwork and Murano
glass. With seating for 64, the restaurant has two private function rooms
accommodating up to 16. It also incorporates a bar with an extensive selection
of hand-picked boutique wines.
