AMBER CHIA ACADEMY GRADUATION SHOW 2015
With Pensonic acting as its presenter for a third consecutive year, Amber Chia Academy (ACA) celebrated its graduation show, an annual occasion dating back to 2011, once again in conjunction with Paradigm Mall’s “In Style Summer Collection 2015” fashion week.
This fifth installment saw more than a hundred students graduating upon completion of their respective modelling, kid modelling, makeup, as well as nail art, courses.
This year’s occasion was a black-themed one, which serves as an ode to the most neutral, yet stylish and sophisticated, colour of fashion.
The evening saw courageous runway displays by graduating students, many of which were making their catwalk debut in public, in apparels by Fred Perry, InFLUENCE, Hide, as well as designs from Diana Ashikin, Michelle Lau, Serene Foo, Sylvia Soon, and Yong Chui Teng - five young designers of Raffles Design Insitute.
As for those graduating in the art of beauty, an enchanting showcase of creative makeup and nail works of art was presented after months of conception and practice of execution.
Besides that, Makeup Guru Desmond Yoi, Makeup Coach Pinky Chia, Makeup Instructor Steven Ngo, and also Nail Art Coach Yannie Wong combined their artistic talents to produce ‘The Scarlet Bird’ masterpiece, an impressive presentation which they hope their students can emulate in no time.
In the past year, former graduates continued to carry the ACA banner high as their respective careers soared. On an international level, Josh Yen received the Asia Model Star Award (Malaysia) 2015 in Seoul, Korea, while Lew Voon Khong was named Mister Diversity Culture International 2014 in Mandaluyong, Philippines.
Besides that, Selin Chan is currently undergoing her model placement with FAME Model Management in Thailand, and current graduate Jayden Yen is signed with NOW Model Management in Singapore.
ACA founders Amber Chia and Benjamin Toong have always pride themselves on the achievements of their students as testament to their beliefs and efforts in setting up the academy, back during the third quarter of 2010.
“I’m so proud that ACA is now five years old and still going strong. It’s always good to see the familiar faces of our graduates doing well in the industry because then, I know that our academy is still actively training and supplying promising talents,” shared Chia, who also acts as the Principal of ACA.

Toong, also known as the Catwalk Guru, added: “More than that, we’re no longer just an academy for models and makeup artists, because we also help individuals who want to better and improve themselves.”
Established as a fashion and beauty school initially, ACA has now evolved into a platform for individuals pursuing personal development and professional enhancement initiatives as well.
Regular workshops, on both personal as well as corporate levels, organised by ACA place emphasis on image grooming and proper deportment, while aiming at confidence and character building.
At the conclusion of the certificate presentation ceremony, a handful of graduates from the latest batch who showed tremendous potential were awarded accordingly:

The emcee honours for the evening were given to actress Amelia Henderson - a former ACA student herself, and guests were also treated to entertaining performances of budding singers Bell Teoh and Amelia Lee. Pensonic is the title presenter for the ACA Graduation Show 2015, and other generous sponsors include Paradigm Mall, Thai-Pore Wines & Spirits, Fred Perry, InFLUENCE, Hide, and Raffles Design Institute.
