Anselmo, a master goldsmith, bought his first shop in 1964, after a ten-year apprenticeship under the master jewelry designer Romolo Grassi, which he started at the tender age of 14 years old. The shop, which sells and modifies antique timepieces, became Anselmo’s passion. To date there are three shops, all in the heart of Milan’s fabled shopping district, on Corso Venezia, at Via Manzoni, and in the Piazza Duomo.

The Grimoldi Milano dynasty continues with Roberto, the eldest son who studied at the ‘mecca’ of watch-making La Chaux-des-Fonds in Switzerland; Giorgio, the multi-talented designer who started his career in architecture and interior; and Cesare, the youngest son who is a ‘human encyclopaedia’ of watch history.
When Giorgio took the reins of the creative direction of Grimoldi Milano designs, he also ventured into fine jewellery since 2003, with the introduction of the iconic ‘Pace Amore’ (peace, love) ring collection. His creative spirit is a key influence in the brand’s creations of personality-packed objets d’art, combining the highest quality of craftsmanship with modern trends.

“I’ve always been the artistic member of the family, and in this respect I take after my father, Anselmo Grimoldi, who led me to appreciate beautiful things and cultivate a passion for watches, of which he himself has always been a keen collector, starting from the priceless Athmos JLC, the rarest and most exclusive collection of Panerai in the world, which amounts to just 3 pieces, as well other famous and unique timepieces,” said Giorgio.

Grimoldi Milano signature timepieces also include the ‘BO2’, a sporty, unisex design that has received overwhelming attention and available in six colors; ‘Commodoro’, the best-selling limited-edition, unisex watch; ‘Elia’, each face is hand-painted assuring a one-of-a-kind coveted watch; and the ‘San Babila’ collection in gold plated, silver steel and all-black versions. Soon after, Grimoldi created the first edition of the VaBene (Italian for “all good”) collection of watches and introduced it during Milan Fashion Week in 2006. These colorful large watches were designed by Giorgio Grimoldi and they were so popular that they eventually became a separate brand. VaBene is the affordable luxury range offered by the Grimoldi brand which has already been a hit with Malaysian trendsetters since its launch in 2011.
