In case you blinked...
Guests on the 2nd night of the Fashion Grand Prix  were the select few privileged to preview the brand new Mercedes-Benz  “A” Class previously  shrouded in secrecy. The car was driven into the ballroom in style by first Malaysian female Formula One test driver twenty year old, Natasha Seatter.  In a fun twist she was surrounded by “Barbie doll” models to unveil it.

Taglined “It can’t be stopped, only followed, the new A Class,” was an astounding revelation to many in the audience. Breaking conventions, the new A Class will definitely be a sight to behold when Mercedes-Benz rolls out an exciting and strategic launch exercise later this year.

Touted as the pulse of a new generation with the new A-Class, Mercedes-Benz is opening up a whole new chapter in the compact segment. Markedly emotive in design, with powerful engines and extremely efficient whilst the new model underlines that for Mercedes-Benz safety is not a question of price.

But is its expected to sell in the RM 250,000 region I guess.

President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Roland Folger quoted during the soft launch, “The new A-Class is a clear statement of the new dynamism of the Mercedes-Benz brand. In automotive development, it's not often you get the chance to start with a clean sheet of paper. It is completely new, down to the last detail. No other car in this segment is as expressive as the new A-Class”

He added, “The A-Class is the sporty Mercedes among the compact segment. It's the right product at the right time - and has tremendous potential to tap into new target groups and markets.”

Dato Nancy Yeoh, President and CEO of STYLO International quoted, “Said to be created for the urbanite who is stylish, tech savvy and understands design and structure, the FGP is the ideal event to launch the A class. I believe Stylo FGP is all that epitomes the A class and its clientele. The partnership sync is amazing as I see a whole wide variety of appreciative men and women who not just want style but understand innovativeness when driving an A class when it is launched later this year.”

The night was not all about car and short in fashion as it had designers representing the Asia Fashion Week & Rainforest Fashion Initiative showcasing their designs soon after the soft launch. Dominique Chan and Nurita Harith of MODA opened the show, followed by Alex Yap of YODA and Wanpa & Hazree Wahid of BDA. The Asian Designers Showcase soon after included designers from the Asian Fashion Inc pool namely Depression (Singapore), Nikicio (Indonesia), Sue Comma Bonnie (South Korea), Vikas Dayal (India),Chand3lle (Hong Kong), Palasak (Thailand), JC Buendia and Em Mariano (Phillippines). The designs showcased each country and its designers in their limitless best in terms of structure, colours, creativeness and distinctiveness.

After the show, the after party continued with a Barbie and Ken theme with Justin Yap & Syomir Izwa of MODA showing Barbie creations while Bon Zainal brought on the Kens. To complete the look, Shawn Cutler created amazing hair designs inventing the quintessential “live” Mattel dolls . The “models” of the night drew excited gasps from the crowd as they strutted the runway as modern day and conventional Barbie and Kens.

STYLO International was set up to create fringe events to support world class Omotorsport activities in the region. Motorsport activities have seen tremendous jump in Asia as it is the sports of choice for the affluent male; the same way affluent females covert couture fashion. Hence, the use of fashion as the excuse for this stylish fringe activity. STYLO is essentially a Malaysian slang for the word ‘style’. The ‘O’ in STYLO denotes that fashion evolves in a circle.
