THE 3RD MISS GLOBAL INTERNATIONAL MALAYSIA BEAUTY PAGEANT WAS A GREAT SUCCESS AND HELD AT EASTWOOD VALLEY GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB.
Organised by Merveilleux Production under licence from ERM Marketin Sdn Bhd, the winner Charissa Chong, 19, will represent Malaysia at the world finals in Albania in November 2013.
The event was held over 19 days in Miri and Miss Global International Malaysia is the first and only international pageant held in Sarawak and indeed Borneo. Usually the finalists fly into Kuala Lumpur for the grand finals but for once, everyone apart from local Mirians, had to fly into Miri, the second city in Sarawak.
"The aim of holding Miss Global International Malaysia in Miri is to promote my beloved home town in particular and Sarawak in general," beamed the indefatigable and competent Marlene Lim who had organised the same contest for the past 2 years and 2013 was her third. She has grown from strength to strength as proclaimed by Sean Chia See Chun, GM of ERM (Exclusive Resources Marketing) which holds the Malaysian franchise but sublets Merveilleux Production to organise the contest.
Congratulations and kudos to Marlene Lim and her team for putting up an excellent show despite having no financial support from the authorities. Perhaps next year Miri City should consider sponsoring MGIM since it is such a worthy effort and highly effective in promoting tourism.
