G Tower is the hot new hotel in Kuala Lumpur with a penthouse bar, lounge, dining hall and general party place so when an invite says 'G Tower', many are persuaded to turn up and check out the new kid on the hotel block.

You can see the ground from 28 floors! The glass is solid and strong enough to dance on but you try first. Lucky I have a head for heights as I did the bungy jump thrice!

Held on the 28th floor at Bridge Bar at 5 pm, the launch of Graham London new watch to toast the F1 races at Sepang International Circuit was a great success. It was a fitting prelude to the races five days later and thoroughly revved up the excitement and anticipation of smelling the burning threads. Everyone I know call the races F1 but the real official name is Formula One 2011 season so I better get that right at least once before reverting to F1.

Graham has already partnered Mercedes-Benz for the last 3 years so it was a fantastic union of two great brands though Graham is a niche name while Mercedes-Benz is universally acknowledged as the ultimate marque and the mark of success. A Merc is Rolex on wheels or should that be a Rolex is a Merc on your wrist!

The mark of a classy event is champagne and at the Graham do, it flowed like there was no tomorrow. I think I polished off a whole bottle in 2 hours. So everyone was in a good mood and thank Buddha and Jesus there were no coupons as in some low class events I had the bad luck to attend, we were given drink vouchers!

There were plenty of Graham watches on display but the star was the Graham Mercedes GP Time Zone for the first time in Malaysia. It is a Special Edition and in limited quantities so if you are a serious connoisseur, you better get one now before it zoomed past you and out of reach forever like Michael Schumacher's car.

On hand to welcome the guests were Graham's brand manager Pietro Tomajer, Graham's international marketing director Olivier Degen and Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One team manager Nick Fry. The VIP was Malaysia's Minister of Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Dato' Ahmad Shabery Cheek whose exotic name always breaks the ice when he attends overseas events as fellow Ministers and VIPs wonder if he is British or just being, well, cheeky.

This one seems like an amateur compared to the Minister

Azlan Iskandar's pants looks like they had a tough ride on Sepang's tracks

The Minister took time to examine the watches at close range and checked out Graham's car simulator placed in one corner. He also chatted with the NEW FRIEND of Graham London, Azlan Iskandar who was later given a watch to my great annoyance. I summoned someone in power to demand one too and was told politely, "First You are not ranked Number 10 in the world as a squash player. Second, you are not in Malaysia's National Squash Team. Third, you are not as tall and handsome and well built as Azlan Iskandar. Fourth..."

I fled to the safety of the bar and drank two flutes of champagne to calm and console my nerves. Azlan is half mat salleh which explains his looks and I think it is scandalous Asians think Eurasians are better looking. I am half Chinese and half Chinese but do people compliment me?

Pietro Tomajer, who I thought was Spanish but turned out to be Italian and was shocked when I said "Same thing" said, "We are so delighted to launch Graham 's Mercedes GP Time Zone in Malaysia. as Official Timekeeper of Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One Team, this collection is specially created for the team speed, perfection and performance tracking. The design was driven by the exceptional fortitude and spirit of the racing world. It blends perfectly in the tough Formula One environment."

I supposed Azlan Iskandar blended in with Graham too as Tomajer gave him a Chronofighter as he is a Friend of Graham which implies I am an Enemy of Graham as I got only a catalogue showing all the available Grahams I could buy.

The party continued with celebrity deejay Joey G which probably stood for 'Graham' rather than 'Gay' as in 'Merry and Happy'. Other celebs were Marion Caunter, pretty host of E!News Asia and Ung Yiu Lin, co-creator of KLutched bags with Zareen Ibrahim.
