RM 101 FOR A CLUB SANDWICH! THIS IS THE AVERAGE PRICE YOU PAY FOR A CLUB SANDWICH IN PARIS IN A 5-STAR HOTEL!

The popular, common and easily available Club Sandwich is now used as a barometer in assessing the level of cost of living in major cities. Paris is first at RM 101 for a Club Sandwich in hotels! Shocking! The cost of a Club Sandwich at Mandarin Oriental Mosaic Coffeeshouse is RM 44.10 only! The KL Hilton is even cheaper at a mere RM 39.44! Both inclusive of taxes and service.

IT USED TO MCDONALDS AND NOW IT IS CLUB SANDWICHES. OH WELL, BOTH ARE STILL FOOD THOUGH YOU NOW HAVE TO PAY THROUGH YOUR NOSTRILS FOR CLUB SANDWICHES SERVED IN GOOD HOTELS IN PARIS, NOW TOUTED AS THE WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE CITY BASED ON THE PRICE OF CLUB SANDWICHES SERVED IN 5-STAR  HOTELS!

Of course the famous McDonald's Cost of Living still holds as not everyone rushes to the nearest 5 star deluxe hotel whenever they need a sandwich or burger.

But now it is official Paris is the world's most expensive city, beating London and Milan and Frankfurt to the dubious and unwanted title. All based on the cost of a sandwich that is sold in Kuala Lumpur's posh hotels like Mandarin Oriental at RM 44.10! That is nearly 3 times cheaper here but then again, this is not anything new as a McDonald's set meal in London is also around thrice the price in Malaysia so we are lucky...then again, the pound is so strong if you work in UK and come home, you will be a millionaire, or at least feel like one!

Hotels.com names Paris as the most expensive travel destination, according to the Club Sandwich Index
The Index found Hong Kong to be more expensive than Seoul, Singapore and Beijing

The world’s most romantic city, Paris, is now also the most expensive city in the world  (RM 101) to order a club sandwich in hotels, according to the Club Sandwich Index (CSI) released today by Hotels.com. The second most expensive city was found to be the Swiss city of Geneva, where a sandwich costs an average of RM 100, followed by RM 95 in Oslo, Norway.

Hong Kong ranked 11th in the Club Sandwich Index (RM 57). Among all the Asian cities, club sandwiches offered by hotels in Tokyo (RM 86) are the most expensive. Although Hong Kong only comes second in Asia, it still costs much more than in Seoul (RM 56), Singapore (RM 46) and Beijing (RM 45). The high price of a club sandwich in Hong Kong is also revealed when compared to some American and European cities like New York (RM 53), Amsterdam (RM 52), Madrid (RM 51) and Toronto (RM 50).

The classic chicken, bacon, egg, lettuce and mayo sandwich, available in hotels the world over, has been used as a measure of affordability by the hotel expert. Using one of the most common items on any hotel menu around the world as a barometer, the Club Sandwich Index (CSI) gives travellers an indication of the costs associated with their destination.

Zoe Chan, Senior PR Manager, Hotels.com Asia Pacific said, “Travellers often forget to factor in the everyday costs of items including food and drink into their decision making process when planning a trip. By providing an estimate of daily food and drink expenses, the Club Sandwich Index helps travellers assess a destination’s real cost and thus plan their travel budget accordingly.”
The average CSI price has been calculated by taking the real prices paid by guests for a Club Sandwich in 30 hotels in the capital city of each country measured. Hotels.com surveyed the Club Sandwich prices in 750 hotels in the five, four and three star category across 26 countries.
