LADY GAGA IN VERSACE

KEE@FSWMAG.COM

CONSIDERING LADY GAGA IS THE HOTTEST THING ON PLANET EARTH AND THE MOST DESIRED VAMP TO INVITE TO YOUR PARTY, SHE CAN PICK AND CHOOSE ANY DESIGNER TO DESIGN HER STAGE GARMENTS.

OF COURSE CERTAIN BIG NAMES ARE OUT DUE TO THEIR UNFORTUNATE TOO-CLASSY IMAGE WHICH IS IN DIRECT CONFLICT TO LADY GAGA'S IMAGE AS A YOUNG AND PAINFULLY TRENDY IMAGE, WITH THE EMPHASIS ON 'YOUNG'.

SO HERMES IS OUT AS EVEN MY AUNTIE FROM KOTA BARU WOULD NOT BE SEEN DEAD IN ANY OF THEIR TA-TAI FASHIONS. CHANEL IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH STAGE SHOWS. NEITHER IS PRADA AS MUICCI PRADA STRIVES DESPERATELY TO PROJECT AN INTELLECTUAL IMAGE LIKE JIL SANDER.

GIORGIO ARMANI IS TOO REFINED AND SOPHISTICATED FOR THAT WOW FACTOR AND GOD FORBID LADY GAGA SHOULD WEAR FERRAGAMO, BALLY, CALVIN KLEIN, RALPH LAUREN OR JUICY COUTURE.

Betsey Johnson is out as her designs are too girly. Heaven forbid Lady Gaga should be seen in Stella McCartney, Diane von Furstenberg,Valentino or Marc Jacobs. Worse still are the Belgian designers with impossible names like Dries van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, Olivier Theyskens or Dirk Bikkembergs whose simple, funeral clothes only induce depression. On top of this, no one knows how to pronounce or spell their names so why buy something you cannot handle or worse, make a fool of yourself fumbling when your friends ask whose labels you are wearing.

Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Tom Ford and John Galliano are possibilities. The one nearest to Lady Gaga's sensitivities and was her soul mate was the late and great Alexander McQueen who ranks as one of the greatest fashion designers, in the same ilk as the late and great Christian Dior and Yves St Laurent. And also Gianni Versace. Too bad these clothes makers have gone to THEIR Maker!

A close contender would be Roberto Cavalli whose seriously sexy gowns are not to be sniffed at but Lady Gaga has chosen Donatella who actually bears a passing resemblance with her blonde locks to Lady Gaga so they should have something in common.

So what does this mean to Versace now that it has been anointed by the High Priestess of song and Vamp of the Ramp and Sex Goddess of all Eternity?

Versace is back! Bigger and bolder and better!

Once again every fashionista is busy stocking up on all things Versace, like they did a decade or two ago. In the 1980s and 1990s everyone had Versaces in their wardrobes. Then Gianni Versace was murdered in 1997 and little sister Donatella Versace took over the creative helm. Slowly the signature baroque patterns, distinctive Italianate prints and Medusa heads vanished, paving the way for simpler more practical designs.

Die hard fans like me deserted Versace because if I wanted simple outfits I go to Metrojaya or Parkson. At one stage the House of Versace was seeking a buyer to inject cash and Versace Japan had to close.

With the collaboration with Lady Gaga, Versace is again seen as young, young and young!

Viva Versace and go go Lady Gaga!

Since I worship Lady Gaga as the manifestation of all that is good and wonderful and divine, I shall henceforth also worship the dresses she wears.

My, what big eyes you have Lady Gaga...
She wore this at the MTV Video Music Aid Award on 25 June 2011 in Japan. All Japanese cartoons have monstrously big, double eye-lidded eyes and as usual Lady Gaga had the last laugh by painting her closed eyes with huge eyeballs while her eyebrows were painted to mimic eyelashes!
