The food is great and prices are what you expect to pay. Not cheap but OK and definitely lower than Renoma Cafe Gallery at rue Pierre Charron in Paris in 16th district near Champs Elysee!
At the entrance is the boutique which blends seamlessly with the rest of the environment as it appears to be more a pop-up store that the usual 4-wall and door store. Here there are are no walls as it is like an open studio concept that leads to bar and dining area.
Of course the star of the show on Opening Night was Maurice Renoma himself who flew in from Paris to open his first Renoma Cafe Gallery and Boutique in Asia. So it is a feather in our cap he should choose Malaysia to kickstart his Renoma Cafe Gallery chain.
Then again, maybe not as Renoma Cafe Gallery is headed by young entrepreneur Daniel Chiang, Brand Director of Bonia Corporation. Bonia bags and accessories are Malaysia's most successful home-grown label and are sold regionally all the way to the Middle East. So Daniel Chiang is well versed in the fashion and lifestyle industry and know a good thing when they see one. Maurice Renoma also knows his name is in good hands!
Maurice Renoma arrived with the French ambassador Her Excellency Martine Dorance and was welcomed by Daniel Chiang and his father SS Chiang (chairman of Bonia Corporation) and Albert Chiang (managing director of Bonia and director of Paris RCG which owns Renoma Cafe Gallery).
Daniel Chiang's beautiful wife Linda Chen is sales and marketing manager of Paris RCG and they are KL's Most Beautiful Couple. She is lovely, tall, fair and sexy. Hubby is tall, handsome, well built and looks like Hong Kong movie star. Presumably both are well off and never starve as they can eat all they like at Renoma Cafe Gallery! And you will never believe looking at Linda Chen's sexy, trim figure she is the mother of two!
Speaking of youth, it must be said Maurice Renoma is not exactly in the first flush of youth. His white hair belies his age and his face obviously has not gone under the plastic surgeon's knife. But he was feisty and lively and stopped to stare and grin at me since I was all dolled as usual.
He took out his camera and took photos of me only to ask how to switch on the flash! Maurice Renoma is an accomplished and professional photographer but he is obviously from the old school or he had just bought his digital Canon and unused to it. Anyway we got his flash working and he began snapping away so I am sure my face and clothes will be appearing soon in his Paris cafe and boutiques!
The French ambassador gave a speech followed by Maurice Renoma. Albert Chiang then went on stage to present tokens of appreciation to them. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held with everyone cutting the banner.
Food was everywhere and champagne and liquor flowed nonstop.
The highlight was the fashion show featuring the latest casual and semi-formal outfits from Renoma Paris. Gasps and rapturous claps rang out when handsome and sexy male models paraded in Renoma's famous underwear though I bet all were disappointed cafe owner Daniel Chiang did not appear at the finale in Renoma underwear as he looked like a model. Anyday now a model agency will be signing him up. After all, 99% of directors of big companies hardly resemble models or movie stars!
