DEBENHAMS PRESENTED ITS LATEST AUTUMN/WINTER FASHION SHOW AT KL.PAC AS IN KUALA LUMPUR PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE IN SENTUL'S YTL PARK TO GREAT ACCLAIM.
Datuk Professor Jimmy Choo, Alison Collingridge and Dato Mirza Mohammad Taiyab, Director General of Tourism Malaysia
Mollie Jackson, artist from Glasgow and Kee Hua Chee, greatest journalist from Kota Baru
Andy Jackson, Managing Director of Debenhams Malaysia and Mollie Jackson
Organised by the indefatigable Dodi Mohammad who I knew from our London days when we stayed together in the same house owned by Charles Tyler, the show was glamorous, stylish and great fun. Dodi now runs Tradisi Busana PR and you can get him at dodi@tradisibusanapr.com
Guests turned up with high hopes and were not disappointed as the show was truly revealing and there was a party afterwards with free flowing wine and delicious food.
Being so famous and a celebrity writer (or at least I think so) I joined Datuk Professor Jimmy Choo and fellow VIPs in the holding room upstairs while peasants mingled downstairs.
The curry puffs were phenomenal and to this day I still think about them! I ate 6 or maybe 7 and busted my diet as they were that good.
Datuk Jimmy Choo was not his sprightly self and appeared to limp ever so slightly. Of course I asked him why.
"I cut myself in my own bathroom!" he exclaimed. "I was carrying a scented candle in a crystal case. It slipped from my hand as I was walking and I stepped on the broken glass! The cut was quite deep and required 11 stitches outside and God knows how many more inside. I was hospitalised for 3 days and was in a wheelchair for a week. It was that serious! Now I can walk but slowly."
One assumes one is safe as houses in your own house but accidents do happen frequently inside your own home! I once cut my palm and arm while trying to push open a window. My hand went right through the glass!
Blood spilled everywhere and luckily Buddha and Jesus saved my life as I did not faint. I still have minor scars on my right palm and arm to this day!
Anyway we had a jolly time in the holding room before being summoned downstairs to our front row seats.

Debenhams Autumn/Winter 2012 – A KL Fashion Weekend
Presentation
Debenhams’ Autumn/Winter
2012, a KL Fashion Weekend presentation was supported by UK Trade &
Investment (UKTI) and Tourism Malaysia.
UKTI is the government
department that equips and helps UK-based companies succeed in the global
economy. It is also instrumental in helping overseas companies bring their
high-quality investment into the UK’s dynamic economy.
UKTI director Tony
Collingridge is excited that Debenhams has made its mark in Malaysia and looks
forward to introducing more British brands into the country.
Collingridge said: “The
UK’s fashion industry is currently worth £21billion to the UK economy, with UK
designers exporting two-thirds of the clothing they produce while the footwear
industry sells over 90 per cent of its production worldwide. Malaysians have a
keen sense of fashion and UKTI looks forward to bringing in more British brands
to add to the diversity of the local fashion retail industry.”
The Kuala
Lumpur Fashion Weekend (KLFW) Autumn Winter 12/13 which is modeled after the London Fashion Weekend,
London’s largest and most exclusive designer shopping event open to the public,
aims to do just so - provide consumers with first-hand look and information on directional trends for hair, make-up and fashion from the
Autumn/Winter 2012/13 collections.
KLFW Autumn/Winter 2012/13 is an event supported by
Tourism Malaysia and participating retail giants Metrojaya and Debenhams as a
platform for promoting the vibrant local shopping scene while providing
excellent brand exposure and creating an important revenue stream for the local
retail industry. Held in conjunction with the 1Malaysia Year-End Sale 2012, KLFW Autumn/Winter 2012/2013 will
feature a rich mix of labels from these leading retailers which
will be on sale in stores for the
duration of the sale period.
