THE WORLD'S BIGGEST ROCKS ARE AT MOUSSAIEFF ON LONDON'S NEW BOND STREET WHERE BEJEWELLED DREAMS DO COME TRUE THOUGH THEY ARE IRRITATINGLY ATTACHED TO A STRATOSPHERIC PRICE TAG.
The world famous 5.11 carat Moussaieff Red Diamond which is currently the planet's biggest and rarest coloured diamond available for instant gratification for only RM 105 million!
Tamara Ecclestone, daughter of F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone even models for Moussaieff. Note the 118.8 carat diamond is bigger than her eye!
Of all the shining star jewellers, the brightest and most luminous that outsparkles the rest is Moussaieff. Previously a best kept secret known only to the super-rich and mega- tycoons, Alisa Moussaieff now has a flagship store on Bond Street where anyone (in theory at least) can pop in to ogle at the magnificent jewels and bring them home!
Kee Hua Chee, Alisa Moussaieff the world's most respected, admired and powerful lady jeweller and Richard Latsch at Moussaieff store in London Hilton at Park Lane
Alisa Moussaieff honours Kee Hua Chee by holding his right arm affectionately. They got on like a house on fire. Note the flamboyant tiger necklace worn by Kee Hua Chee that caught the discerning eye of Mrs Alisa Moussaieff, plus the rings of course except when Moussaieff does them, the central stones will be coloured diamonds!
Alisa Moussaieff and Kee Hua Chee inside Moussaieff store in London Hilton on Park Lane. It is a great honour to be photographed with the world's most influential and successful lady jeweller and diamond dealer as she very seldom allows herself to be photographed with someone she hardly knows!
Of course if I were Alisa Moussaieff, I would be dripping with diamonds and blazing like a Christmas tree 24/7 but she is hardly laden with bling
The centre yellow diamond is bigger than most costume jewels!
Nowhere else on earth can you see diamonds as big as pigeon eggs lying languidly, sparkling seductively and reposing wickedly than those in Moussaieff's windows. The diamonds are so humungous at Moussaieff they look like Swarosvki crystals! They are that caraty, costly, clean and clear!
To me, the best jeweller in the world is Alisa Moussaieff. Moussaieff is not as famous as Graff and its owner Alisa Moussaieff is not as high profile and flashy as Laurence Graff but she is one of the world's most important and powerful diamond dealers. This respected and much admired jeweller is said to be the world's most influential, well connected and richest female diamond trader and retailer.
Never heard of her?
You are not alone. Alisa Moussaieff is not a household name like Cartier, Piaget, Chopard or Bvlgari as her name used to be known only to a blessed few with bottomless pockets and unmeltable credit cards to accommodate her price tags.
Alisa Moussaieff has been in the diamond business for 60 years but only in the last 8 years has she gone retail for mega-carat rocks. Previously she dealt direct with Kings, Queens, Sultans and occasional Emperor plus all the richest tycoons and dictators.
Now for the first time, you can saunter into her Bond Street store and pick what you want. Either from the 2 windows groaning under the massive carats or be shown more goodies retrieved from the safe.
In all my illustrious life, I have never seen such dazzlers as the diamonds as big as the Ritz at Moussaieff. Indeed, many mortals are astounded so many huge diamonds exist! In photos, a 1 carat diamond looks pretty much like a 100-carat mind-boggler but the impact can only be seen, felt and gasped when viewed in real life as you can compare the ping pong-sized diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds with the measly, pathetic thingy on your finger.
Unlike some jewellers who sell large but lower grade diamonds and heated rubies, treated sapphires and filled-in emeralds, Alisa Moussaieff only offers the best and highest quality gems love, power, money and blackmail can buy. So leave your loupe at home---there are no inclusions, grit or flaws inside the diamonds. They sparkle like light bulbs because they are clean and pure and pristine with no defects!
Alisa Moussaieff has only 3 stores worldwide, the flagship store at New Bond Street, her old shop at London Hilton and one in Geneva where billionaires go to visit their money. The store at London Hilton Hotel in Park Lane deals in more 'affordable' bling, if you call a RM 200,000 pave diamond ring 'affordable'. The eye-blinders the size of my Leica camera lenses are all at Bond Street and Grand Hotel Kempinski in Geneva.
So perhaps there are not that many big rocks to go around after all!
Six years ago I went to Moussaieff and was shown a red diamond, the 5.11 'Moussaieff Red' that was offered to me for RM 16.5 million.
How I regret not buying it!
I went inside Moussaieff again on 19 December 2012 and was told it now costs RM 105 million!
During that period, it changed hands several times as presumably (don't quote me) Moussaieff might buy it back from the purchaser at a profit for the buyer so the price just keeps spiralling skywards!
I vowed to grab the Moussaieff Red Diamond with my greedy, grasping paws the instant the world ended on 21.12.12 when an earthquake would split the safe asunder but alas and alack, nothing happened and I am left lootless.
Mrs Alisa Moussaieff is lowkey and looks like a very kind and sweet aunt, the sort who showers you with sweets and toys but beneath the charming and easy going persona lies a steely businesswoman highly admired and even feared as she is known to be a no-nonsense but ethical diamond dealer. In a world dominated almost entirely by men, Alisa Moussaieff stands tall and alone as there is no other female of her calibre and standing.
She told me I was very fortunate to have touched the Moussaieff Red Diamond. "Many jewellers spend their entire lives without ever seeing a red diamond let alone handle it!"
She was amused by my monumental tiger necklace with 2 dangling dark green tourmaline and orangey citrine. She examined my bling closely and asked where it was made. She liked it and wanted to show to hubby who was supposed to be on his way to the Hilton shop.
However frantic phonecalls went into his voicemail and Alisa Moussaieff asked if I could remove my necklace so a staff member could photograph it. Of course I considered it an immense honour that someone of her calibre who deals in diamonds bigger than my tourmaline and citrine should see fit to photograph my earthly possession.
I hope to see a new manifestation of my tiger necklace in diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds instead of semi-precious stones.
"I admire your style and confidence. Not many men can carry such a massive necklace in this day and age," she grinned. "In fact, I cannot think of any other guy! I know men who collect big diamonds or buy them for their wives or girlfriends but they would certainly not wear the huge stones themselves!"
Anyway Jesus Christ and Buddha have assured me I will be Alisa Moussaieff's best and biggest customer...in my next life.
