PUAN SRI CATHERINA CHANG, WIFE OF THE LATE TAN SRI LEE SIOK YEW WHO WAS MALAYSIA'S HEALTH MINISTER WHO RETIRED IN 1978, ORGANISED 'A HAT AFFAIR' GRAND CHARITY FASHION DINNER AT RENAISSANCE GRAND BALLROOM ON 18 AUGUST 2013.

The indefatigable, sultry and exotic Puan Sri Catherina Chang, third wife of Tan Sri Lee Siok Yew, founded Phoenix Welfare Foundation in 1997 to help the underprivileged and support community projects.

Lucky Kee!
'A Hat Affair' raised  some RM 180,000 through the sale of 62 tables, sale of 80 unique hats and auction of 5 special hats and parasols.

All proceeds went to 5 deserving charities---Montfort Boys Town, Befrienders KL, Lovely Disabled Home, Good Shepherd;s Centre and Ti-Ratana Welfare Society.

Puan Sri Catherina Chang has a heart of gold as she handmade all the 80 hats for sale plus dozens more for her celebrity and tai-tai friends to model on stage.

As Puan Sri Catherina Chang was the brains and driving force behind this fund-raiser, she had to be the star of the evening. She changed costumes four times, culminating in a Spanish flamenco-style red and black gown. Instead of castanets, Puan Sri Catherina Chang used a red Chinese fan with trailing ribbons for a touch of the exotic East.

She certainly hit the right note when she set the evening ablaze by stomping into the ballroom accompanied by Moon Walker Entertainment dancers to the hit song 'Gangnam Style'!

I really have to take my hat off to Puan Sri Catherina Chang!

She must be the sexiest and hottest Puan Sri in Malaysia who has the nerve, audacity and courage to dance sensually on stage in cut-out tights that showed a still shapely pair of legs!

I have never seen a dancing Puan Sri before who wriggled her hips and sashayed on and off stage for a good cause.

Instead of passing the hat to collect money, Puan Sri Catherina Lee nee Chang decided to make and sell hats!

Some ladies but not the majority, wore hats to the charity gala but though some were flamboyant, most were relatively restrained. This was not Royal Ascot so I cannot describe it as a Mad Hatter's Party.

After the spectacular opening gambit featuring a dancing Puan Sri Catherina Chang in slashed tights, James Wong the organising chairman, gave a speech. This was followed by a video presentation showing Puan Sri Catherina Chang making her hats on her trusty Singer sewing machine.

This was followed by the first lucky draw. Owen Yap the handsome emcee announced some tea cup saucers had orange stickers. As usual Buddha blessed me and I won a BMIC gift voucher worth RM 380.

Puan Sri Catherina Chang the modelled her hat named Lady Peacock dressed in an avant garde Indian saree to loud applause.

I also won a book during the second lucky draw!

Lillian Tan Mei Wan sang. Then a hat and fashion show with gowns by D&L Couture.

A hat auction sold 5 parasols and hats that raised RM 8,250.

Pauline Gan sang a Malay song beautifully followed by a fashion and hats how modelled by socialites and celebrities like Wong Chui Ling.

The last model was of course Puan Sri Catherina Chang in a red and black flamenco dress.

Altogether a great and enjoyable evening---congratulations for a job well done, Puan Sri Catherina Chang
