The name of this toy museum is the grandoise Million Toy Museum.
While I did not bother to count the number of toys, this Million Toy Museum certainly has tons of them, from familiar ones we played with as a child to exotic numbers I never seen before.
The museum is founded and owned by Professor Krirk Yoonpun who was inspired to build his own toy museum after visiting two in Japan. That was in 1982 and since then he has been buying as many toys as he can lay hands on.
Luckily his museum does not resemble a toy shop as he also collects what are strictly non-toys like amulets, old photos, paintings, pottery, glassware, stemware, enamel work, lacquerware, sculptures, currency, machinery, porcelain, currency notes, coins, ivory marquetry, glassware and silver.
Even Professor Krirk Yoonpun admits he does not know the exact number of toys and artefacts!
"I gave up counting once they passed 100,000 and that was decades ago! Also there are various ways of counting. I have toys that come in different colours so does that mean I have just 1 or several? If I have 12 dolls with identical bodies and bodies and size but wearing different dresses. does that count as 1 or 12? Some toys were actually made for adults since they were meant as collectibles and not playthings so do they count as toys which are supposed to be played by children? What about children's tea set that come in a box containing plastic teapot, plates, spoons and vases? Does that mean I have 1 toy or several? Some toys are very cheap and basic while others are expensive. I buy toys in good or perfect condition but sometimes the old or rare ones may be damaged, faded or having missing parts.
"I am not interested to prove I have a million toys and objects since not everything on display are for children to play with. I buy what I like and which interest me. I have life-sized figures of Superman and Ultra Man and also cups to celebrate royal weddings of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince William. Some are genuine antiques. I just want children and their parents to enjoy visiting my Million Toy Museum."
And that Krirk Yoonpun has succeeded tremendously!
