Remarkable Results
Achieved at Antiquorum’s February Auction in Hong Kong
Antiquorum’s spring auction of “Important Modern and Vintage
Timepieces” held at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong on Saturday,
February 22 concluded with an outstanding result totaling RM 18 million.
An impressive 80% of the 250 timepieces were sold by lot. In
addition to the strong in-room presence, the auction enjoyed competitive
telephone and Internet bidding. International participation came from Europe,
the United States, Japan, Singapore, the Russian Federation as well as
Australia.

The top lot of the sale was the Patek Philippe Ref. 5207 tourbillon minute repeater
perpetual calendar in platinum which attained an exceptional RM 2.6 million including buyer’s premium.
Also highlighting the sale were two
extraordinary Patek Philippe split-seconds chronographs which both achieved
impressive results. The
Ref. 5004 in stainless steel sold for RM 1.9 million and the 5004 in yellow gold brought RM 1.2 million including buyer’s premium.
The Patek Philippe Ref. 3939HP tourbillon
minute repeater platinum wristwatch, which had already
attracted considerable attention prior to the auction, was highly coveted by
Asian collectors and finally attained an impressive RM 1.7 million including buyer’s premium.
Also attracting
attention was the John Mattram musical
table clock made for the Chinese market. The
exceptional clock sparked a bidding war and ultimately attained a
notable RM 238,000 including buyer’s premium, over ten times its pre-sale
estimate.
The unique Patek
Phlippe Ref. 1373 “Pendulette Dome 700eme Anniversaire de la Conferdetation”
brass table clock also achieved an
important result, selling for RM 420,000 at auction.
Other complicated
wristwatches also did very well. The Richard
Mille RM038 “Tourbillon Prototype 03 Bubba Watson” magnesium wristwatch
achieved an important result, selling for RM 8.8 million at auction; and the Audemars Piguet “Royal Oak Concept
Carbon Tourbillon Chronograph” sold for RM 520,000. The Panerai Ref. RAM348 skeletonized ceramic
tourbillon wristwatch,
also generated great interest, selling for RM 420,000.

Patek Philippe
Ref .5207 Tourbillon Minute Perpetual Calendar Honey Gold Dial Platinum. Extremely fine, rare and important,
astronomic, minute-repeating, platinum wristwatch with one-minute tourbillon
regulator, instantaneous perpetual calendar, moon phases, honey gold dial, and
a platinum Patek Philippe buckle. Accompanied by a mahogany fitted box,
Certificate of Origin, additional platinum caseback, setting pin, COSC,
technical and instructional documents in leather folio.

Patek Philippe
Ref. 5004A stainless steel wristwatch with split-seconds chronograph made in a limited edition. Made in a
limited edition of 50 pieces in 2011, the extremely rare, important and double
sealed wristwatch is highly collectible, with perpetual calendar, moon phases,
leap year, 24 hour indication and a stainless steel Patek Philippe deployant
clasp. Accompanied by a fitted wooden box, additional solid stainless steel
case back, setting pin and leather folio.

Philippe Ref. 3939H, minute repeating platinum wristwatch with one-minute
tourbillon regulator. The
extremely fine and very rare platinum wristwatch was made circa 2008 with a
platinum Patek Philippe deployant clasp. Accompanied by a fitted box.

Patek
Philippe Ref. 5004J 18K yellow gold wristwatch with split-seconds chronograph
and black dial. It is an
extremely rare and important wristwatch with perpetual calendar, moon phases,
leap year, 24 hour indication and an 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe deployant
clasp. Sold on September 21, 2011. Accompanied by a Patek Philippe fitted box,
Certificate of Origin, extra case back and push pin. As confirmed by the
certificate, this 5004J is the only known example in yellow gold with a black
dial and the only one ever to appear at auction.

Mille tonneau-shaped “Tourbillon Prototype” magnesium wristwatch, RM038 AL MG PROTO 03 .Sold on June 1,
2012, the very fine, unusual and extremely rare wristwatch features a visible
one-minute tourbillon regulator, 48 hour power reserve and titanium Richard
Mille double folding deployant clasp. Accompanied by a fitted box, warranty,
instruction and a set of golf clubs in the bag.

square button chronograph. Sold on January 1, 2010, the very fine and rare wristwatch features

Philippe deployant clasp. Accompanied by a mahogany fitted box, Certificate of
Origin, additional solid platinum case back and setting pin.

clasp. Accompanied by the wooden box, warranty, instruction booklet and
magnifying glass.

Patek Phliippe
Ref. 1373 “Piece Unique – Pendulette Dome 700eme Anniversaire de la
Conferdetation”brass table clock. The very fine and unique, solar-powered and electromechanical brass table
clock was created to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the foundation of
Switzerland in 1991 and sold on 22 September, 1996. Accompanied by the fitted
box, certificate, guarantee, registration card, instruction manual, hang tag
and Japanese watch description in the frame.

Panerai
Ref. RAM348 skeletonized ceramic wristwatch, No. M23/30, made in a unique edition of 30 units
in 2010, the very fine and extremely rare wristwatch features one-minute dual
axes tourbillon, 6 day power reserve, 24 hour indication, two time zone and a
black coating stainless steel Panerai double deployant clasp. Accompanied by
the original box, certificate, international guarantee certificate, instruction
booklet, booklet (Lo Scienziato 2010, Tribute to Galileo Galilei 2011 and
Panerai catalog 2010), Galileo’s Telescope book, additional straps (x3), hang
tag and sticker.
