Patek Philippe Ref. 3979 and 5029 Drive Outstanding
Resultsat Antiquorum Auction
Antiquorum “Important Modern and Vintage Timepieces”
auction was successfully held on Saturday, June 28 at the Mandarin
Oriental Hong Kong, totaling HKD$
50,719,125.The auction of 532 fine
and highly collectible timepieces attracted a standing room only
crowd, in addition to several hundred registered internet bidders and
phone bidders from around the world. Strong prices were achieved
resulting in 114%
sold by value.
The top lot of
the sale was the Patek
Philippe Ref. 3979 minute-repeating platinum wristwatch with enamel
dial (Lot 531), resulted in the outstanding
total of HKD
$3,630,000 including
buyer’s premium.
Highlighting the
sale was the exceptional Patek
Philippe Ref. 5029 (Lot 532), minute repeating wristwatch
in Platinum. The extremely rare and collectible
wristwatch was sold to an Asian phone bidder at HKD$ 3,570,000 including
buyer’s premium.

Patek Philippe
realized spectacular prices in the sale. A number of wristwatches
inspired fierce competition, which demonstrated global collectors’
passion for Patek Philippe wristwatches. Among the series of notable
Patek Philippe wristwatches, the very rare and fine Patek Philippe Ref. 2438
Perpetual Calendar Wristwatch( Lot 530) with
insignia on the dial and an 18K yellow gold Tiffany & Co
tile braceletsparked collectors’ interest and was sold for HKD$ 2,430,000 including buyer’s
premium. Patek
Philippe Ref.5004P platinum wristwatch with split-seconds chronograph
(Lot 122) also did very well sold for HKD$ 1,830,000 including
buyer’s premium. Patek Philippe Ref 5961P (Lot 115)
aroused great interest and inspired intense competition, finally
selling for a notable HKD$1,290,000
including buyer’s premium.
Rare pocket
watch and clocks made for the Chinese market in exceptional condition
continue to galvanize collectors worldwide. Volta a set of 2 minute
repeating Chronograph pocket watch (Lot 502).It drew
much attention from the bidders as well and achieved an outstanding
price of HKD$725,000
including buyer’s premium, over 5 times of its pre-sale
estimate. Mirror Image Pair of Chinese Bronze & Red Lacquer
Elephant clock (Lot 503) also did very well sold for
at HKD 237,500
including buyer’s premium.
Antiquorum looks
forward to its next auction which will be held on September 18 in New
York, offering a collection of exceptional wristwatches from leading
brands such as Patek Philippe and Rolex.
Antiquorum is
going to launch an Asian Valuation tour from July 16 to August 30,
2013. Collector may take this opportunity to consign the fine
timepieces to Antiquorum October Hong Kong auction.

with perpetual calendar, moon phases , insignia on the dial and an
18K yellow gold Tiffany & Co tile bracelet. Made in 1955 and sold
in 1963. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archive. Extremely fine,
extremely rare and elegant, this particular example unseen to the
market is the first example ever to feature an insignia at twelve o
clock.
