SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR
OFFERS MOONCAKE SPECIAL
Shangri-La's moon cakes are the best this side of the moon!
Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur offers
classic and new mooncakes handmade by Chinese Executive Chef Tan Kim Weng for
the Mooncake or Mid-Autumn Festival on 8 September 2014.
On the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese Lunar calendar,
the moon is at its roundest and family members traditionally gather to
celebrate the festival and eat mooncakes. Children would light colourful lanterns and
join the fun of the celebration.
Mooncakes are about unity among family members and strengthening
ties with friends, both personal and corporate. Thus, they make meaningful gifts.
At Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Chinese Executive Chef Tan Kim
Weng creates classic mooncake varieties according to traditional recipes. These include Lotus Seed Paste, White Lotus
Seed Paste and Red Bean Paste, with or without egg yolks, and Assorted Nuts and
Sun-Dried Fruits.
This year’s new mooncake varieties include Pandan Lotus Seed Paste
with Single Yolk, Mini Black Sesame with Yolk and Mini Ping Pei with Avocado
Custard Cream.
All-time favourites Mini Ping Pei Durian and Mini Ping Pei with
Custard and Bird’s Nest will also be available. For those who love chocolate, there is Mini
Ping Pei Snow White Chocolate with Honeycomb.
Offers Mooncake Special
A special Mooncake Counter has been set up in the hotel lobby, with
different varieties of mooncakes displayed together with the beautiful premium
gift boxes. The mooncakes may be ordered
at this counter from 1 July to 8 September 2014.
From 1 July to 24 July 2014, there is an Early Bird Offer of 15 per
cent discount on all mooncakes. Two
rebate vouchers of RM20 each, to be used at Shang Palace and Lemon Garden Cafe,
will also be given for every mooncake gift box purchased. A company logo may be placed on the gift boxes
for purchases of 50 boxes and above on single receipt. The ultimate gift for
this year’s festival is to have your company logo engraved on the mooncake for
purchases of 300 boxes and above on a single receipt.
The Mooncake Festival is associated with a few legends, the most
famous of which is about the role mooncakes played in the Chinese’s overthrow
of the Mongols in 1368 AD. The mooncakes
hid a message to rise up against the oppressors and were passed along,
resulting in a successful rebellion.
