Gastronomic Journey

Acclaimed Northern Chinese restaurant newly opened in The Shard in London offers the ultimate celebration package combining
the best of both Hong Kong and London
World-famous Hutong restaurant at One Peking, Tsim Sha Tsui, famed for its fiery but delicious northern Chinese cuisine, sleek jaw-dropping interiors and spectacular views of the Hong Kong (and now London) skyline, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a series of uniquely indulgent menus and a once-in-a-lifetime 十万shí wangastronomic journey from 10th March to 10th May 2014.

Hutong takes its name from the traditional Chinese courtyards of Beijing, which are also the design inspiration for the restaurant, while it takes culinary inspiration from the Lu School of cuisine, originally from Shandong Province and a favourite of the Imperial palaces in Peking.

Originally born in Hong Kong, the success of Hutong, whose many accolades include being one of the first Chinese restaurants to earn a Michelin Star, prompted Aqua Restaurant Group to open a second equally stunning restaurant in Europe’s tallest building, The Shard, where it is taking the London dining scene by storm. Hutong has already this year been awarded a coveted Pagoda Award, London’s equivalent of Michelin Stars for Chinese cuisineand has received critical acclaim from the press winning a number of prestigious awards, including being named in the National Restaurant Award’s Top 100 list.

To celebrate Hutong’s longevity on its 10th Anniversary, the restaurant is offering the ultimate Hutong Gastronomic Journey, which combines an indulgently luxurious dinner banquet for up to 6 guests at Hutong in both Hong Kong and London, a pre-dinner cocktail experience on red-sail Chinese junk boat aqua luna, as well as a weekend trip to London with roundtrip Business Class flights, two nights at the luxurious new Shangri-La London Hotel at The Shard and limousine transfers.

The Gastronomic Journey menu offers a once-in-a-lifetime Chinese culinary experience, with luxurious dishes specially crafted by Hutong’s chefs in the restaurant’s unique but occasionally fiery style. Amongst the 11 dish  banquet menu, diners will enjoy two signature 10th Anniversary dishes - Russian Oscietra caviar laced asparagus and‘Kung Po’ style foie gras rolled in gold leaf with cashew nuts and chili. Fine wines and champagnes such as Château Palmer 1995 and Dom Pérignon  Rose Vintage 2002 have been carefully paired with the eleven dishes.

The 十万shíwanGastronomic Journey is priced at HK$100,000 per person (in Chinese, large numbers are counted in multiples ofwan or 10,000, so 十万shí  wanis 100,000). Advance booking required.

Besides the Gastronomic Journey, Hutong is offering the two signature 10th Anniversary dishes in two additional menus for those who are looking for a more ‘down-to-earth’ experience.

Thewanmenu, without the trip to London, is priced at HK$10,000 per person and offers the same 11 dish celebration menu as the Gastronomic Journey paired with fine wines and champagnes. The menu is served in Hutong’s exclusive Private Dining Room with stunning views of Hong Kong harbour and skyline.

The qian menu at a much more affordable $1,000 per person showcases the two signature 10th Anniversary dishes with a selection of Hutong’s most loved dishes such as Bamboo clams spiced and steeped in Chinese rose wineKale stir-fried with Sichuan aged sausage in ginger sauceand a platter of Taro cake and crispy apple rolls served with home-made ice-cream.

Hutong’s chefs are also creating special Shòu Bao(birthday buns) and these will be served as an amuse bouche to all diners.

As well as these limited edition celebration menus, Hutong Hong Kong will also be celebrating its successful 10 years by introducing its newFēng Wèi 丰味’Abundant Flavour’ free-flow Sunday brunch. Available on Sundays from 12pm to 3pm and priced at $598 plus 10% service charge per person, the brunch is a first in Hong Kong – combining a Chinese buffet featuring Hutong’s fiery cuisine with free-flow drinks including Veuve Clicquot Champagne, White or Red wine, and a range of specially created Tea Cocktails. The brunch will be accompanied by different live performances such as noodle pulling, Kung Fu tea pouring, and a traditional face-changing act.

About Hutong – Hong Kong and London
Reminiscent of an ancient family courtyard in one of Peking's fast disappearing hutongs (courtyard houses set between narrow lanes), Hutong’s interiors are set against the most breathtaking skylines in both Hong Kong and Londonof any international metropolis.  This is not the only surprise.  The sense of adventure and sheer avant-garde creativity continues in the innovative cuisine inspired by the culinary Lu School from Shandong province.

Originally born in Hong Kong nine years ago, Hutong opened in London in 2013  and is situated on Level 33 of Western Europe’s tallest building The Shard and introduces the fascinating and diverse cuisine of Northern China to London. This is the first overseas location for the much-loved restaurant of the same name in Hong Kong

Hutong is part of the famous Aqua Restaurant Group.
