The world famous Met Ball of New York is also known by its official name Costume Institute Gala since it is held under the aegis of the Costume Institute which contains tons of, what else, costumes. The Met Gala started in 1971 and is one if not the most important fashion events of the entire American industry.

Anna Wintour became the chairwoman in 1995 and raised the profile of Met Gala immeasurably as she handles not only the benefit committee but also the guest list!

The Met Gala as it is usually called, is held at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art and is now the world's most glam slam event since the models all happen to be famous film stars, singers, entertainers, sports personalities and celebrities. Real models like Naomi Campbell and Giselle Bunchen are few and far in between!

The theme this year was "Charles James---Beyond Fashion" which is beyond all comprehension as no one apart from fashion students, have ever heard of Charles James! Anyway why they did not choose Karl Lagefeld, Tom Ford or Dolce & Gabbana is also beyond me.

The Met Gala's rival is the Vanity Fair Oscar Party right at the opposite end of New York in California. Hosted by Vanity Fair magazine the same way Met Gala is under Vogue USA magazine, the Oscar Party has more star power but less fashion lights.

Last year the Met Gala raised around RM 30 million and this year it should be much higher since the ticket last year cost a mere RM 33,000 and last night it cost a staggering RM 82,000!

Colin Firth the famous English film, TV and stage actor whose films like The King's Speech and Bridget Jones' Diary have grossed more than RM 11 billion with wife Livia who is wearing a magnificent diamond choker from Chopard which must be worth at least RM 40 million!
Kendall Jenner, baby sister and slimmer, taller and sexier sister of Kim Kardashian, in mermaid gown by Top Shop (believe it or not) and Chopard bling
Marion Cotillard showed a bare cleavage but made up for it with Chopard earrings
Her dress rather plain as she should be wearing a ball gown. She can ask Keith Kee or Carven Ong to sponsor a baju anytime. Then again, she was wearing Dior
