CANNES IS A SMALL TOWN AND ITS BEACHFRONT LINED WITH SUPER PRICEY AND HIGHCLASS DESIGNER BOUTIQUES START FROM MARTINEZ HOTEL AT ONE END AND THE PALACE FESTIVAL HALL AT THE OTHER!
And if you walk slowly without entering the tempting stores and melting your platinum cards, it takes a leisurely 30 minutes!
Indeed after the second day, you will have discovered all of Cannes! The cheaper and just as fun shopping promenade is parallel to the main beach strip as apparently not every local is a multi-millionaire!
The main beach front is called Croisette and is world famous while its poor cousin running behind with no direct beach frontage is rue de Antibes. Here are fun, fashionable boutiques, shops, cafes and restaurants which normal Malaysians can afford. If you are a peasant and low class with no money you would not waste time visiting Cannes in the first place.
And especially during Cannes Film Festival when hotel rooms are booked and paid a year ahead to guarantee rooms are available for movie stars who expect to stay in Carlton, Miramar, Novotel, Martinez, Grand Palace and any of the 5-star hotels facing the sea. Even if your room does not! But the main thing is staying in a beach facing hotel to save face OK!
Expect to pay RM 1,000 minimum per night and I must say these so-called grand hotels are not that impressive either! Certainly not in the league of the grande dame hotels of Paris and London!
This is rue de Antibes the second street parallel to high class Croisette!
But they still sell cool shoes which are not cheap!

The Carlton is certainly eye catching with its magnificent facade used to advertise everything from Avakian jewels to movie posters!
