The Inner Wheel Club
of Kuala Lumpur is part of International Inner Wheel, a non-profit voluntary organisation
made up exclusively of lady members over 18 yrs of age. It has more than
100,000 members, in 168
districts over
4,000 clubs spanning over 100 countries. It is one of the largest women’s organizations in the
world.
Inner Wheel was
formed 88 years ago by Mrs Margarette Golding, wife of a Manchester Rotarian in United Kingdom, with the object of
fostering friendship and to assist with community projects undertaken by the Rotary
clubs. While Inner Wheel works in close association with the Rotary movement,
it remains autonomous as a distinct service organization.
The aims
and ideals of Inner Wheel are Friendship,
Service and International Understanding.
The Inner
Wheel Club KL was chartered in 1949. It
belongs to Inner Wheel District 330 which has 16 Clubs located in Peninsula
Malaysia. The Club has 76
members and we meet on the 1st Thursday of each month at 2.00pm, at
the Royal Selangor Club, Bukit Kiara, Kuala
Lumpur.
Over the years, the
Club has raised funds to carry out projects locally, benefiting
the needy and less fortunate, children and the elderly as well as the
physically and mentally challenged.

Financial
assistance to SEGI University College scholarship holders
Internationally, we
have donated towards education for children in Mongolia, purchase of winter clothes and shoes as well as
towards green house projects ,
helped disaster victims in Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Szechuan, China. We have
also helped children whose parents are afflicted with AIDS in Chiangmai, Thailand,
as well as providing fresh water supply to a school in Baguio, Philippines.
In keeping with the
Inner Wheel ideals of ‘Friendship and Service’, the Club continues to blaze a
trail, a trail marked with the footprints of many members who cared, who had
courage, and who took action. Often they have given without recognition and
with no expectation of it and they continued on, knowing the great personal
reward that comes from serving others.
