Our first full day in Taipei!

We enjoyed breakfast with the General Manager Achim von Hake at Toscanan the Italian restaurant which becomes fine dining at lunch and dinner.

Achim suggested we go to Lungshan Temple, the most famous Kuanyin temple in Taipei so we did and found it very enlightening and interesting!

Kuan Yin protected her statue on 8 June 1945 as it remained undamaged despite the bombing and fire that razed the building!
This statue of Kuan Yin is famous in Buddhist world as it was unscathed after a direct hit by allied bombing on 8 June 1945!
The entire Main Hall and the right annex were destroyed and burned to the ground after the raid and bombing but this statue of Kuan Yin remained untouched! Incredible but maybe not
Devotees who rushed to the temple said they saw the statue glowing amid a golden halo that encircled it!
