KIEHL'S COOL STORE AT PAVILION

KEE@FSWMAG

I WAS INVITED TO KIEHL'S TO VISIT THEIR FLAGSHIP STORE AT PAVILION WHICH OF COURSE I HAD BEEN BEFORE BUT NOT IN THE PLEASANT PRESENCE OF PRETTY JOLYNN TEE DE MELLO  AND HANDSOME ALEXANDER JASPERS.

Jolynn Tee and Alexander Jaspers makes a formidable team and they should be installed in the store as sales would shoot skyhigh since they personify clear, clean and cool skin.

Of course they are irritatingly young under 25 so that may
explain their flawless skin. But I know young guys and gals their age with lousy skin so perhaps Kiehl's may have something to do with it. More so when they get to enjoy the products free as Jolynn Tee is PR executive and Alexander Jaspers is marketing executive. Jolynn is half Portuguese which explains her De Mello surname and Alexander Jaspers is totally Dutch which explains his mat salleh status.

Sadly, Kiehl's Malaysia may not afford an European salesman who used to work as model. As it is, Alexander is leaving our fair shores back to Maastricht in southern Holland to do his Masters in Business Administration. Of course he prefers to live in Malaysia so we may see more of him in the near future. He has been working in KL for the last 6 months and has grown very fond of Malaysia like everyone who has some brains.

He really should work here as he speaks Mandarin well!

"I studied Business in Shanghai last year for 6 months so I can get by with Mandarin. 'E tien tien wor ker yee chiang hua yee'.
Saya juga bolih cakap Bahasa Malaysia sedikit." says the 23 year old handsome hunk.

After finishing university, he worked in an advertising agency Jung Von Matt as strategist before packing his suitcase for China.

He is pretty excited over the new Facial Fuel Sky Flyin' Foaming Multi-Gel (RM 80) and Facial Fuel No-Shine Hydrator (RM 100). Even he admits he has to agree with me Kiehl's is excellent at coming up with lengthy names for their products.

"But the names explain everything in one go! So you know exactly what it does as it does not beat about the bush and you get what you require," he says triumphantly.

"Asian skin generally is oilier than European skin which is good in a way as skin stays younger longer and wrinkles develop later in life. Asians don't age fast! European skins tend to be drier and more creases form at a younger age.

"The No-Shine Hydrator is ideal for Malaysian males as this super absorbent formula uses patented technology to reduce the appearance of oil and shine, leaving skin clean and healthy looking."

He uses the new Foaming Multi Gel each morning. "This is a great product and kills 2 stones with 1 throw. Most men prefer a quick and easy regime and this 2-in-1 Foaming Multi Gel is ideal as it does double duty! It is both a shaving cream and cleanser!"

I tried it by squeezing the can. A blob of delicious blue-white cream appeared. I rubbed it and instantly it transformed into what looked like shaving foam with a fresh, minty scent! Back home I applied to my face and shaved with it. As I have 8 hairs on my chin and 14 hairs above my lips, shaving is not a top priority but I must say the shave was smoother than my usual soap! My pitiful few hairs are shorned clean with no stubble.
My skin also feels smooth and comfortable without the taut feeling.

Actually I kinda like the taut feeling as I feel as if my skin has been cleansed and detoxified properly but Jolynn and Alexander insist the best skincare cleansers wash off completely, leaving no residue nor aftermath so skin should not feel stretched or pulled. In fact, they say my skin should not feel anything at all! OK then!

Alexander also recommends Facial Fuel Energising Face Wash (RM 80) which removes dirt, surface impurities and oil without stripping skin's natural oils which makes skin feel taut!  "The taut feeling is due to over-drying of the skin which is no good as skin automatically compensates by producing even more oil!" says Alexander Jaspers.

He uses No-Shine Hydrator but for older skins (I wonder why he looks at me as he says that) there are 2 options---Facial Fuel Anti-Wrinkle Cream (RM 130) and Facial Fuel Age Combat (RM 130). They improve facial firmness and we all know the horrors of sagging and flabby boobs, oops, I mean skin! Of course they diminish fine lines, crow's feet and wrinkles.

Continues Alexander Jaspers, "Since Malaysia is always sunny, the best bet for men is to use Facial Fuel UV Guard SPF 50 daily! This super sunblock prevents premature ageing and sun damage is specially formulated for men and is a must-have. Did you know 90% of skin ageing is caused by UVA (ultra violet) rays from the sun?"

At RM 130, this trio are the priciest products from Kiehl's which seems almost cheap compared to other glam brands.
